Joe's Day Off

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!  SUNDAY, 05 JUNE, beginning at 11:00 am and going to 10:30 pm at the TRIANGLE Restaurant, 601 Prince George St. there will be a BENEFIT TO REBUILD DONK'S THEATER.  Donk's Theater - decades-long home to Virginia's Li'l Ole Opry in Matthews, Virginia, was housed in an official Virginia historical building, originally a movie theater.  It evolved into a Grand-Ole-Opry style live music theater, and has seen many. many country performers sing ion the stage, some going on the national prominence.

High winds and snow destroyed the building completely in the January winter storm.   Limited insurance isn't near enough to rebuild.  I think the Williamsburg musical community will take the opportunity to come together to help other musicians in need.  Response has been great - I will get a schedule out in the very near future.

Please plan on coming - hear some great music and donate as much as you can - as much as your generosity and wallet will allow.  And plan to eat at the Triangle, to say thanks to Anna.Matt and company for allowing us to use their great venue.

Make plans now - bring as many friends as you can.  Thanx so much in advance!  Joe D.

Friends - For those who don't know already, I put out a monthly e-newsletter called the MPoW - Music Patrons of Williamsburg.  It contains the JDO schedule, but also the schedules of other groups in the area who agree to go out and support other musicians and groups when possible - it's an honor system, and a "support group" for local live music in greater Williamsburg. I also include the D/T/P for jams in town to encourage other people to come out and join us make a "joyful noise".  I list some musical "for sale" items (I don't verify condition, and your price negotiations are your own) and other tidbits as I get them regarding the local live music world in Williamsburg.

If you are interested in receiving an MPoW e-mail every month (free - a labor or of love), just send an e-mail to me at:   -   I'll send to the latest one, & put you on the list for future editions.

And I always ask - please go out and support local live music whenever you can.  Don't nurse that Diet soda all night - have dinner & drinks - & dessert.  Bring some friends and make a great night of it!  Williamsburg has local live music to appeal to everyone's taste - help us keep the venues open - support the musicians, groups and venues whenever you can!  Live Music is Always Better!

And God bless the USA!

Thanx - hope to see you at a music event soon!   Joe D.

We are blessed to have the best friends in Williamsburg who come out and support not only JDO but local live music generally.  We cannot express how thankful we are to see friends show up - it always makes it a fun night for us.  THANK YOU ALL!!

The TRIANGLE (601 Prince George St) is a great place to play anyway, but JDO had several sit-ins which made for a fun evening.  We REALLY miss MaryKate (hope she feels better soon), but it was great to have long-time area musician Tom Garcia on piano & vocals filling in. As well, great sit-ins from vocalist Lara Beaird, and singer/dobro man J.J. Justice made a great addition to the music. We were also honored to have great Williamsburg player Roger Ferguson sit in on several tunes - "Makin; Whoopie" topped off the set.  Great fun!  Come see us at the TRIANGLE next on Sunday, 27 September 6-9 - excellent food, great atmosphere, and good time tunes by JDO!
